HUNDRED-MILE RACE.

The Canterbury amateur cycling championship, of 100 miles, over the "round-the-gorges" course, was held to-day in showery weather and resulted: — B. Parkin (New Brighton), 42.0 1 A. C. Hands (Christchurch). 60.0 2 J. F. McGrath (Avonside), 53.0 3 Fastest time and championship, \V. F. Wilcockson (Christchurch), scratch, 4h 4t)ni. Second fastest, D O'Brien (Dunedin), S.O, 4h 51m lls. , Parkin, who was first Borne, 16 years old. He attributed his win to ritness. The second place was filled by Hands, the veteran of the field, over 40 years of age. Wilcockson, who secured championship honours, is one of the most prominent amateurs. AUCKLAND CLUB. The Auckland Cycle Club's weekly road races was advanced a further stage at Tamaki on Saturday, with a 20J miles handicap. The 4i-niile to the lap circuit was used. Boisterous conditions prevailed. Twenty-one riders were dispatched as follows: —o. Porter, F. Lowudes, 8.45; S. Kara, M. Hibburt, 8.0 ; G. Rollerson, 7.30 ; A. Sutherland, L. Tomkins, 7.0; N. Healey, 6 30; J. Haigh, 6.0; W. Archer, W. Pratney, 5.30; C. Willcox, K. Kae, D. Storey, 4 30; H. Clay, 2.45; J. Lindop, K. Mathieson, 2.0 ; J. "Whitten, W. Mathieson, 1.15 ; J. Wade, S. Forty-one eyelists competed in the two road races conducted by the Mamricau Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday afternoon Both events were over a triangular course of 23 miles to the lap. There was a strong westerly gale. In tire junior race of 10 miles (four laps), seventeen started. The scratch pair had a sprint for time honours, Robinson beating Ms old friend and rival, Gordon, by a wheel. Detailed results: — A. Brass (6.0). riding time 31.22 .. 1 A. M. Keith (4.30), 32.21 - G.
