LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

NORTHERN UNION CUP.

SECOND MATCH FOR TROPHY,

AUCKLAND VERSUS NORTHLAND.

The second match of the season for the Northern Union Cup will be played at the headquarters of the Rugby League, Carlaw Park, to-morrow- The holders of the coveted trophy, Northland, will be called upon to meet the Auckland representative side, and a hard, fast' and open clash is promised. The visitors should prove a tough nut to crack, as they have a fine collection of forwards—a sextet which combines brains with brawn—and backs, who have both pace and enterprise. League supporters will remember their fine showing earlier in the season, when they defeated a. more experienced WaiIcato thirteen and walked off with the cup. In the weeks since the Kaurilanders' last appearance at Carlaw Park they have been practising assiduously, and are determined to make a bold bid to retain the trophy, which they so meritoriously won. Auckland is pinning its faith to a young and vigorous side, a; good percentage of which consists of men who will be donning the representative jersey for the first time.
