CYCLING.

MANUKAU AMATEURS.

Two "out and home" races were conducted by the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday, under perfect conditions. A course of 18 miles, extending from Western Springs to Henderson and back, via Oratia, was used. The six miles of loose metalled road from Henderson to near New Lynn was in fair order, while the remaining 12 miles was over concreted roads. Times generally were fast, and the senioi event was an exciting contest. The placed juniors were H. J. Starke (9.0), riding time 59.19 .. 1 E. W. Bates (3.30), 54.35 2 H. V. Gordon (scr.), 51.7 ~. 3 A. W. D. Robinson (scr.), 51.8 4 Fastest time was recorded by H. V. Gordon, who clocked 51.7. Placed seniors were Erie A. AUCKLAND CLUB.

It was President's Cup day at Tamakl on Saturday, when the Auckland Cycle Club decided a 25 miles handicap for a cup donated by the president, Mr. J. L. Harris. Five laps of the 4J-mile circuit, and one of 21, had to be traversed by the riders. With a glorious spring day for racing a splendid field of 20 participated as followsC. Reid 12.0, W. Hills, F. SOUTH ISLAND CONTEST.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The South Island road championship over a course of 36 miles was won by H. W. Bennett, with T. Griffiths second. L. Hill took fastest time and the title.

OTAGO CHAMPIONSHIP.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Saturday. The Otago amateur 50-mile road cycling championship to-day was won by J. Kennedy. His time was 2h 26m ss. Fastest time was recorded by K. Booth (Invercargill), 2h 25m 225.
