At the United States lawn tennis championships at Brookline in the first round of the doubles Perry and Hughes (Britain) defeated Kamrath and Burwell, B—6, 4—6, 6—l, 6—2.
In the women's invitation doubles tennis tournament, first round, Mrs. Elsie Pittman and Miss Joan Ridley won by default from Misses Hilda and Helen Boehm (Maiden, Mass.), who are twin sisters.
In the second round Perry and Hughes (England) defeated Jack Tidball and Lester Stoeffen (Los Angeles), 3—B, B—6, 6—B, 6—4, B—6.
In the second round of the mixed doubles Lott and Mise Nuthall defeated Barnes and Miss Penelope Anderson, (> —1, 6—4; Mangin and Miss Virginia Rice defeated F. R. Leighton-Crawford (England) and Miss Marjorie Morrill (Dedham, Mass.), 6—4, 6—4.
