ON 'CHANGE.

FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

GOVERNMENT STOCKS WEAK,

BANK OF NEW ZEALANDS STEADY

A fair amount of business has been transacted on the local Stock Exchange during the past 24 hours, and the weakness in Government stocks does not appear to have affected other securities, and they have shown little change.

The easing in Government scrip referred to yesterday was confirmed with a sale of 5Wb (1937) at £98 10/, a drop of 35/ within the last few days. At this morning's call the line was on offer at £99, and 4&'s were available at £97 5/. Buyers stood off, and there were no bidders in the Government section —an unusual occurrence.

Bank of New Zealands seem to have steadied after the recent decline, and after further business at £2 4/8 holders retired to £2 5/.

Pukemiro Collieries were offered a shade cheaper at £1 15/, and Thames Theatres were available at 14/6.

Bank of New South Wales were quoted ex div., with buyers at £24.

National Banks Lower.

At the noon call v a weakening was noticed in New Zealand National Bank shares, which were offered at £3 12/6, with the highest bidder stopping at £3 ]()/. Last month this scrip was selling at four guineas. New Zealands also eased again, with holders offering to take £2 4/6, and £2 3/6 the best buyer. There was no improvement in Government stocks, and the only buying offer was one of £97 for a parcel of 5Ya (1937) bonds. Bank of Australasias were a little easier, and after two sales, one at £8 8/ and the other at £8 7/6. there were sellers at £8 7/, but buyers had withdrawn. Following yesterday's activity in Christchureh, New Zealand Breweries were in demand, and after sales at £1 8/4 and £1 8/5 there were still buyers at £1 8/3.
