FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

TAX FREE BONDS EASIER.

A fair number of sales were completed on the local Stock Exchange yesterday after the "Star's" main edition went to press. The improvement, however, was short-lived, and at this morning's call only a single sale was recorded and bidding was rather dull. There was a slightly better feeling in Australian Banks, and in one or two cases buyers advanced their limits. For Commercials 13/3 was offered, for Nationals of Australasia £9 7/6, and for Australians of Commerce 12/8. The last mentioned changed hands in Christchurch yesterday at 12/4, but later recovered, with a transaction at 13/. New Zealand Breweries were firmer, with buyers at £1 10/ and no sellers. In Government, fitocfcs tax frees eased further, and, following sales reported from Christchurch at £98, buyers stood off, with the exception that £98 was offered for a parcel of the '39 issue. A parcel of Inscribed was offered at £99 5/. s\k (1937) were still in demand at par. The Noon Call. At the noon call buyers for Australian Bank of Commerce advanced to 12/9. A parcel of New Zealand Brewery shares was offered at £1 11/. King Solomons improved with a sale at 2/5, and more wanted at the same money. Goldec Dawn shares were asked for at 4/6. The offer of £98 for 4% per cent (1939) made in the morning was withdrawn, and there were no bidders for tax frees. Moturoa Oils were still wanted at 5/. A buyer offered 15/ for Whittome, Stevensons.
