YOITNG MAN'S BAD LIST.
DETENTION FOR TWO YEARS
Four charges of obscene and wilful '' exposure on August 17 and 18 wore preferred against Arthur Rodgers (23), alias Arthur McMaster, labourer, at the Police Court this morning. Mr. AV. Noble, who represented Rodgers, said he was pleading guilty to save calling five female>witnesses. ; "Quite right, Mr. Noble, that will cut a bit off his sentence," said the magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Detective Sergeant Kelly said accused was a single man who resided with hie parents in Auckland. After referring to the four offences, committed in the presence of young women, Mr. Kelly added that Rodgers, for a young man, had a bad list of previous convictions. "He is an habitual thief," said Mr. Kelly. Mr. Hunt remarked that Rodgers had not long b.ecn discharged from prison after serving a year's sentence. "He's mental, I'm sure," eaid counsel. Mr. Hunt: Such a man is a danger to the community. I have a duty to society to perform. He will be sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, to be followed by twelve months' reformative detention.
