TELEPHONE SUBSCRIBERS.

ABOLITION OF PRIVILEGE.

ON GROUND OF ECONOMY.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)'

WELLINGTON, this day.

In the near future telephone subscribere will no longer be able to ascertain the time merely by dialling a certain number at the telephone exchange. This privilege, as a measure of economy, is to be abolished.

The abolition will not take place simultaneously throughout the Dominion, but only come into force as each centre has its new telephone directory issued. Due notice of the change will be given a few days prior to the issue of each directory.
