ORANGES FROM ADELAIDE SYDNEY FRUIT TO-DAY. EGGS DOWN A PENNY. There have been few changes in values at the auction marts since last report. Apple prices remain low and most other local fruits are slow of sale. A fair sized consignment of oranges came to hand yesterday from South Australia, the quality being excellent. Low rates for ripe bananas have stimulated the demand and values have firmed slightly. A shipment of citrus fruit arrived by the Ulimaroa, some of which was eold to-day. Mandarins opened up in mixed condition. Good quality realised from 6/6 to 7/6 per case; poorest sorts, 2/4 to 2/6. Pines realised from 15/ to 18/6. Latest quotations are as follow: — Apples, Delicious, 4/ to 5/6 per case; Munroes, 4/ to 5/6; Ballarats, 6/ to 6/6; Jonathans, 4/6 to 6/; Doughertys, 4/ to 6/; Stunners, 6/ to 7/. Pears: P. Barrys, 6/ to 8/ case: Nelis and Cole, large, 9/ 'to 10/; small, 6/ to 7/. Tomatoes: Hothouse, 4d to 1/ per lb; Island, 6/ to 7/ case. Tree tomatoes: 3/ to 5/ case; black, 6/. Passions: Local, 3/ to 5/; Australian, 6/ to 7/. Mandarins: 4/6 to 7/ case. Grapes: Californian, red, in barrels, 31/; white, in cases, 14/. Oranges: Navels, 8/ to 10/ case; Island, repacks, according to count, 11/ to 14/. Lemons: 5/ to 8/ case. Plums: Californian, 8/ case. Poorman oranges: Large, 5/ to 6/ case; small, 2/ to 3/. Bananas: Ripe, repacks, up to 21/; seconds and mediums, 10/ to W. Vegetables. The market is heavily supplied with potatoes and onions. Australian onions have eased in price. Small quantities of hothouse cucumbers are offering and bring good prices. Cauliflowers are in short supply, but celery and cabbages are plentiful. Latest quotations are as follow: — Potatoes, Southern, 7/ to 9/ sack; new, Id to 2d lb; onions, Australian, 6/6 to 7/ cwt; Californian, 15/ to 16/ cental; Pukekohe, 12/ cwt; kuraaras, Island, 13/ to 14/ cwt; Tauranga, 12/ to 14/; cabbage, 4/ to 9/ sack; cauliflower, 7/ to 10/ sack; gwedes, 2/ to 2/6 bag; pumpkins, 6/ to 12/ cwt; citron melons, 6/ to 9/ cwt; sprouts, 4d and 5d per lb; beans, 9d to 1/3 lb; lettuce, 1/6 to 10/6 case; cucumbers, hothouse, 4/ to 6/6 dozen; vegetable marrows, 3/ to 4/ dozen; cabbage, loose, 1/ to 4/ dozen; cauliflowers, loose, 2/ to 9/ dozen; celery', V to 3/6 bundle; rhubarb, 3/ to 5/ dozen; spinach, 1/ to 1/9 dozen; pumpkins, loose, 9d to 1/6 each; radieli, 6d to 9d dozen; spring onions, 6d to 9d bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 6d to lOd dozen; leeks, 3d to 6d bundle; chokos, 1/ to 1/9 dozen. Eggs and Butter. Eggs have come forward more freely since last report and prices have eased in consequence. Latest quotations for best quality are:—Hen and duck eggs, special grade, 1/2% per dozen; A's, 1/1%; B's, 1/0%. Far-mere' butter is selling readily at lid to 1/1 per lb. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry waa medium, and the demand was fair. The prices paid remain about level. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 4/ to 5/6 each; not prime, 2/6 up; light breeds, prime, 2/9 to 4/; not prime, 1/6 up; fat roosters, heavy breede, prime, 2/ to 2/0; light breeds, 1/6 to 2/; hens, heavy breeds, 2/9 to 3/3; light breeds, 2/ to 2/6; laying hens, heavy breeds, 2/ to 2/6; light breeds, 2/ to 4/; pullets, heavy breeds, best, 4/ to 5/; smaller, 2/6 up; light breeds, best, 4/3 to 5/; smaller, 2/6 up; drakes, younsr, prime, 2/6 to 3/6; smaller, 1/6 up; ducks, young, 2/9 to 3/9; old, 2/ to. 3/; drakes, old, 2/ to 3/; turkey hens, 5/ to 7/6; gobblers, 8/ to 14/. After the ordinary sale a special sale of laying hens took place, when the following prices were realised: —Laying hens, heavy breeds, 3/ to 3/6; light, 3/ to V; pullets, light breeds, 4/3 to 5/; email, 2/6 up. Wellington Prices. Messrs. Laery and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report present values as follows: — Cucumbers, choice, hothouse, 14/ to 16/ dozen; tomatoes, hothouse, 1/ to 1/3 lb; French beans, hothouse, 3/ to 3/2 lb; passions, 4/6 to 5/6 half ease; lemons, cured, 10/ to 12/; others, 6/ to 8/ bushel; Poorman oranges, large, 4/ to 5/ bushel; tree tomatoes, large, 0/ to 6/6 half case; cauliflowers, 20/ to 26/ sack; cabbage, 12/ to 14/ sack; celery, 3/ to 4/ bunch; spinach, 12/ to 16/ banana case; lettuce, 12/ to 14/ banana case; kumaras, 8/ to 10/ sugar bag, 14/ to 16/ banana case; new potatoes, 3d; others, 2d to 2%d per lb.
