THREE INJURED.
CAR STRIKES POLE.
CRASH AT MIDNIGHT.
CHILIAN OFFICER HURT.
The tliree occupants of a sedan motor car were seriously injured when it crashed into a telegraph pole at the corner of Hobson and Fanshawe Streets shortly after midnight. A fracture of the left leg and cuts to the head -were suffered by Miss Harriet Fenton, of the Clarendon Hotel; Floreneia. Segura, an officer on the Chilian training ship General Baquedano, received head injuries, and James Kainey, of 48, Wairoa Koad, Narrow Neck, had his head and left knee injured. Mr. Eainey, the driver, was in the front seat, and Miss Fenton and Mr. Segura were in the back. Travelling down Hobson Street the car turned to the right at the corner and skidded into the telegraph pole. Mr. Eainey and Miss Fenton were thrown forward against the windscreen, Miss Fenton being hurled across the back of the front seat. All of tho windows in the car, except two, were shattered, the splintered glass inflicting cuts on the occupants. The car was practically wrecked. The injured people were taken to the Auckland Hospital, and are in a fairly satisfactory condition.
