Mr. George Knight, of Mount Albert, a tormer city councillor, celebrated his 83rd birthday to-day. Last year Mr. Knight met with a severe motor accident and spent his 82nd birthday in a hospital ward, but he has recovered his strength. He was present at the capping celebrations in the Town Hall on Friday. The Rev. B. Wilson, president of the Canterbury Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, left Wellington by the Monowai on Friday for Sydney. He is the Dominion superintendent of Junior Christian Endeavour Societies and will speak on youth work at the jubilee gatherings of the Christian Endeavour, which commence in the Sydney Town Hall to-morrow.
