FOOTBALLER'S INJURY.

ATTENDS SATURDAY DANCE.

COLLAPSE AFTER CHURCH.

To recover from concussion suffered at football on Saturday afternoon, attend a dance that evening and go about hie ordinary Sunday activities, only to collapse after attending church service last night, was the experience of Mr. Melville Irwin, aged 20, of 30, Wairiki Road, Mount Eden, during the week-end. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital and recovered consciousness this morning. His condition is improving. Mr. Irwin received a knock on the head at football, but did not show any signs of serious injury. He did not feel well yesterday and could not remember anything about, the dance he had attended. After attending church last evening he visited the house of a friend. There he became so ill that a taxi was summoned to take him home, but before it arrived he had lo&t consciousness. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Mr. Irwin is the son of Mr. James Irwin, of Komata, near Paeroa. Other Players Hurt. Three other players suffered concussion during games in Auckland on Saturday afternoon. They were taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and are in a satisfactory condition. They are:—Miss Dulcic Mullins, aged 14, of Queen Street, Otahuhu, who was knocked down while playing basketball at the Drill Hall, Rutland Street; Cyril Golland, aged 21, of Mount Wellington Highway, Ellerslic, a member of the Panmure third grads Rugby team; and Hika T. Wilson, aged 21, of Pukaki Road, Mangere, a member of the Mangere League team. At Dargaville, Richard Wells, of Hikurangi, received concussion during a representative League match. He was taken to the Whangarei Hospital, and is in a satisfactory condition.
