SETTLEMENT LIKELY.
WEST COAST COAL DISPUTE. WATERSIDERS INSTRUCTED. CONFERENCE HELD TO-DAY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT, this day. There is every likelihood of the waterfront dispute over tribute coal being settled within the next 24 hours. The Alliance of Labour has wired to Mr. D. Hayward, president of the District .Miners' Council, advising him that the Alliance has instructed the vvatersiders to lift the embargo on Charming Creek and Cascade coals. A conference was held to-dav of watersiders, seamen and miners to discuss the situation, and it is confidently expccted that the dispute will be settled.
