REV. W. E. CONNOLLY AT MAUKU. Parishioners of the historic St. Bride's Anglican Church, Mauku, extended a welcome to the Rev. W. E. Connolly and Mrs, Connolly at a social held in the Victory Hall, Mauku. Mr. Connolly, who was formerly vicar at Waimatc North, has taken the pla"ce of the Rev. G. P. Morris, who has gone to England. The social was well attended, and among those present were a number representing other denominations. Musical and elocutionary items wbre given by Mesdames W. Davies, Hirstich, Mitchell, Misses Enid Davies, L. Larsen, and Messrs. L. Clarke and Harlon. The church has recently had the roof re-shingled. The work has been well done, and no trace of modernity spoils the rustic beauty of this historic little church.
