APPEAL AGAINST " CUT."
APPLICATION TO COURT,
Further applications for exemption from the general order of the Arbitration Court for a. 10 per cent cut in wages have been filed with the registrar at Auckland, and will be heard at the sitting of the court this month. The total of applications now in the hands of the registrar is 27. Only a few days remain for lodging applications to be heard at this sitting of the court.
Among the applicants are four branches of the tailoresses trade, including the Auckland tailoresses and other female clothing employees (dressmakers and milliners' section), and (shirt, white and silk workers' section); the northern district tailoresses, excepting Poverty Bay; and the northern district clothing trade employees under the tailoresses award- Other applicants are: the Auckland tramway officers and maintenance staff, the South Auckland engine-drivers, winders, motormen and firemen; the Otahuhu chemical manure workers; the Auckland' Transport Board's tramway and omnibus employees; the Gisborne fire brigades employees; the Auckland Merchant Service Guild; and the Auckland gas employees. The sitting of the Arbitration Court in Auckland opens on July 21, when fixtures will be made at 11 o'clock.
