Mills and Company, London, with the idea that the New Zealand producer may appreciate better the tremendous production that is taking place in nearly all foodstuffs, which has brought about a low range of prices, report that butter in fact is holding its own very well, compared with clieese. bacon, wheat, and several other -, foodstuffs. "We have been doing all we can to stimulate our salesmen all over the country, and we had a report to-day from our Newcastle-on-' Tyne branch, which shows what they are selling in Newcastle. The report is as follows:—'Consumers can buy the following goods for 5/: — s. d. 141b be"st flour 1 2 lib best butter 1 .2 12 fresb-laid eggs 1 0 lib bacon in sliceii 0 6 lib ham in slices 0 10 Yeast 0 1 Jlb margarine 0 3 5 0 "You will agree that this is pretty cheap food, and as far as butter is concerned, we know that they can buy good eatable butter at 1/ and 1/1 per lb!" j
