GREAT CHARTER'S OATSSTEEPLES TO PANGOLIN. WARZONE COMPLETES DOUBLE. DICK WHITTINGTQN DEFEATED. (By Telegraph.-—Press Association.) - • ,Y ■ Saturday. The second;; day>.of the Napier Park Racing Club's winter.meeting was held to-day in fin© weather. -The track was holding after rain overnight. The- attendance was larger than on Thursday, and totalisator investments also improved. The machine handled £7107, compared with £10,381 on the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £12,542, against £19,441, a decrease of £6599. Only Two In It. Warzone and The Warden led the field. by six lengths after the first threequarters of a mile in the Waiohiki Hurdles. By tho time the home turn was reached the pair were eight lengths ahead of tho remaining quartet. 13oth the leaders and Pat's Boy faltered at tho last fence, but none fell. The Warden and Warzone Avere left to fight it out unchallenged by any of the others, and Warzone Avon by a length, with, the reet of the field eight lengths back. Beverage Wins Narrowly. Moatoa, Night Speaker, Beverage, and Hystride.were quickly prominent in the Greenmeadows Hack. Navaho entered the straight first, with Beverage and Hystride handy. Beverage came away to win from Navaho by a head, with tfystrido another length further back. Rory Mor Finishes Well. lii the Ladies' Handicap, Blacksmith left the post ahead of Rory Mor, False Scent, antl Day Lass. The order was unchanged half a mile from home, and as they entered the straight Blacksmith and False Scent Avere together, ahead of Day Lass, Kory Mor, and Gaze. Kory Mor put in a fine buret to secure the verdict from False Scent, with Blacksmith, Day Lass, Gaze, and Waiforte in :hat order. The Oats. Taranto started badly in the Oats, and Manifesto led from Freehold, Great Charter,. Koyal Songster, and Arikira. The Park Steeplechase Avas-remarkable for the unusual number of falls.- Bon Ayron spilled his rider at the firetdouble and out of the straight Winter Day led Disrank, Pangolin, Kaokaoroa, and Rigoletto. At the post and rails along -the back Disrank crashed, heavily, breaking a leg, with the result that he had to be destroyed. Dapper Boy fell on top of him, leaving a field of only four. Into the;straight again Pangolin led Kaokaoroa, Winter Day, and Rigoletto. Kaokaoroa moved to the front as they left the straight. When the post and rails was.reached again Rigoletto and Winter Day fell together, and Kaokaoroa and Pangolin reached tho straiglit together, but -the former stumbled badly after jumping the hencoop at the top of the run home,' leaving Pangolin to win by over 50 yards. Six minutes later, Rjgoletto, ridden by a spectator, passed the post, to fill third place. The Last Couple. The field got a poor start in the Trial Handicap, being well strung out from the barrier, Silver Fern leading Crown Jest;, Mon Roi, Dozie and Dick Whit, tington. The order was practically unchanged till the straight was reached, though Dick Whittington had moved to third place, ahead of Dozie and Mon Roi. Silver Fern beat Dick Whittington by three lengths, with Crown Jest another length further back, followed by Mon Roi,'Valma, Dozie, and Corneroff. In. the iNewstead Handicap, which was run in a rainstorm, Adventus led from the start, Beverage being close, followed by. Chief Savage. At the far turn the order was the same, but Arrowzone, Baskier and Rasouli leddnto the straight. In an exceedingly close finish Adventus, wlo had come strongly at the finish, «ot a narrow verdict from Baskier, with Rasouli only a nose behind, and Beverage but a head back fourth.
