VANILLA MILK ALMONDS.
These are very delicious sweets, which require no cooking. Put a good tablespoonful of sweetened condensed milk into a basin, and mix gradually into this sufficient icing sugar to form a stiff paste. Flavour with a little vanilla, mix with a fork, and beat with an upward movement till the cream is smooth and can be handled without too much difficulty. Form the cream into small balls; have a sheet of greaseproof paper ready on the table, place the balls upon this, and with your first finger press an almond flat on the top of each. Leave to dry. Some of these creams can be coloured pink with a little cochineal, and others may be coloured brown by adding a small quantity of cocoa. If you have no almonds, a little candied peel does very well and tastes delicious.
