RATIONALIST SOCIETY.

PROSECUTION PENDING ? REFERENCE IN ANNUAL REPORT. There was a representative attendance of members of the New Zealand Association for the advancement of Rationalism at the annual meeting held in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. The report presented indicated that the association had passed through a* successful year so far as increase of membership was concerned. The existing depression had adversely affected its income, in common with most other organisations. Attention was directed to the splendid vehicle for educating the public in the principles of Rationalism and general culture along humanist lines which the Sunday .evenings at the Majestic Theatre afforded. Over (Kl lectures were delivered to very large audiences at that theatre and elsewhere during the year, and some thousands of slides, bearing wisdom and wit from writers of all ages, were screened. In view of the possibility of the association 'being selected by the city solicitor for prosecution as a "test" case in relation to its Sunday meetings, it was unanimously decided to engage counsel and contest the question to the fullest extent should action eventuate. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. F. A. de la Mare (pro tem); vice-presidents, Hon. J. Macgregor, M.L.C., Professor T. A. Hunter, Mr. P. O'Dea, Dr. T. C. Moore and Mr. Henry Hayward; hon. _ auditor, Mr. W. H. Brabant; executive committee, Messrs. Prince, Lynch, Ingram, Major, Stevenson, Halpin, Sayes, ' Lewins, and Mesdames Dreaver and Hansen.
