OLD AGE PENSIONS.

« CUT» NOT CONTEMPLATED. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. A letter was received at a meeting of the Soldiers' Mothers' League this afternoon from the Minister of Pensions, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, stating that the Government had no intention at present of introducing legislation affecting the rate of old-age pensions payable under the Pensions Act. The secretary of the league, Mrs. E. Nicol, stated this morning that at a meeting recently addressed by Mr. W. E. Parry, M.P., it was suggested that old age pensions might be subject to the "cut." She said that that intimation caused a great deal of concern amongst old people.
