W.C.T.U.

"The monthly meeting of the Papatoetoe branch of the W.C.T'.U. was held in the Methodist Hall, Papatoetoe, on Wednesday. Mrs. Long presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. F. H, Leonard. Ttiere was a good attendance of members. Mrs. Venables gave an address during the afternoon on " Women's Sphere and Occupations," and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoop tea was provided by a ladies' committee. ♦ * #. * The Eden W.CT.U. held its monthly meeting in the Dominion Road Methodist school room on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Haye presided. White Ribbon Day was observed, and a paper read on "The Meaning of Our Emblem." A strong resolution was passed in favour of the Religious - Instruction in Schools Enabling Bill. Members volunteered to assist with the stall at the forthcoming Winter Show; also the Hospital Auxiliary Street collection. One new member was initiated.
