LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MARIST-RICHMOND REPLAY. AT CARLAW PARK TO-MORROW. The only senior League match to be played to-morrow, afternoon will be the replay of the Marist-Richmond game played on the opening day of the season and Avon 11*10 by Marists, but subject of a protest by Richmond on the ground that the winning points were obtained by Marists after the official time had. been exceeded. Richmond claimed a win, but both the, Auckland and the New Zealand controlling bodies decided on a replay. The result of the first game indicates how closely matched the two teams are. Several junior games will also be played at Carlaw Park during the afternoon.
HUTT RETURNING TO AUCKL/m
Information has reached Auckland that the Ponsonby Rugby League player and international, Lou Hutt, who has distinguished himself with the fat. Helens Club last year and again in the season just closed, is returning to New Zealand, and should reach Auckland within a fortnight. Hutt went Home to play as a front row forward, but has proved himself a great breakaway also. He played for England against the Kangaroos, and. three times has been included in "Other. Nationalities" against England. St. Helens, for whom the Newton players Hardgrave and Hall also play, was defeated in its quest for the English Challenge Cup by York, who were in turn beaten by Halifax. It is stated that Hutt is returning for family reasons, and that he does 1 not intend to play again.
