RIVAL EXPLORERS.
DELVING INTO ASIA'S SECRETS,
CALCUTTA, May 2S. The advance party of the great Citroen motor expedition through the East is now in India. The main party is in Afghani-tan. The expedition is travelling in two sections in light cars and caterpillar motor lorries, including workshop, cinema and hospital cars.
Part of the route follows that taken by Alexander the Great on his march along the Indus, and part the old "silk route," which Sir Auro] Stein hoped to follow on his expedition. He was, however, refused permission by the Chinese authorities to enter Sinkiang. Sir Aurol ha- nivc'ii up hope of returning to India from Ka-hgnr. and it is now likely that he will take his British Museum-Harvard University expedition into Southern Persia.
