Vesuvius Wins Big Race. — Record by Todd Lonzia.

There is fine weather and a large . attendance at Addington for the first ( day of the Canterbury Park Trotting i Club's winter meeting, which will be i wound up on Saturday. The course is in good order. J Three-Year-Ola Recora. Welcome Guy and Wah broke at the start of the Progressive Handicap. Half a mile from home Todd Lonzia went to - the front, Repute being in second place a furlong further on, with Mat Voyage and Merce Bingen next. Todd Lonzia easily held his place and beat Repute by three lengths. Deceitful, finishing fast, was six lengths away, with Merce Bingen fourth. Times: 3.26 2-5, 3.23 2-o, 3.30 1-5. Todd Lonzia's time 3.26 2-5, wae a Xew Zealand record for a three-year-old trotter, the previous best being White Satin's 3.27 2-5, which was made on the same track. Todd Lonzia has had great reputation since the time he was first put into training, and he is the best young trotter that has weed at Addington. Harewood Handicap. Ayrmont Chimes drew clear in the Harewood Handicap three furlongs from home, with Awaiti, Kreisler, Nona Bingen, Bay Admiral and Our George following i'n that order. Ayrmont Chimes led into the straight, but/ Our George wore him down and won by a neck. Bay Admiral was two lengths away, with Nona Bingen a length further back. Times, 3.19, 3.19 1-5, 3.20, 2.5.
