AUCKLAND'S HEALTH.
DIPHTHERIA AND SCARLET
FEVEB.
CASES REPORTED LAST MONTH.
There were 13") cases of infectioue disease reported to the Auckland district health officers last month, of which 51 were diphtheria, 23 tuberculosis and 31 scarlet fever. The number of pneumonic influenza was only three.
In the Central Auckland district the medical officer in charge (Dr. Thos. Hughes) reported as follows: —Scarlet fever 9, diphtheria 21, enteric fever 1, tuberculosis 11, C.S. meningitis 1, influenza (pneumonic) 3, erysipelas 4, puerperal fever 4, eclampsia 1; total 55 cases.
Dr. Herbert Chesson, who is in charge of the North Auckland and ThamesTauraiiga health districts, gave the following details of his area:—North Auckland health district: Scarlet fever 7, diphtheria 2, tuberculosis 5, erysipelas 1; total I.) cases. Thames-Tauranga health district: Scarlet fever 1, diphtheria 7, tuberculosis 2, puerperal fever, ordinary, 1; total 11 cases. The 54 cases reported by Dr. J. Boycl in the South Auckland district were made up as follower—Scarlet fever 14, diphtheria 21, enteric fever 1, tuberculosis 5, erysipelas 6, trachoma 1, undulant fever 1, bacillary dysentery 3, eclampsia 2; total 54 case?.
