SUNDAY GARDENING.
PROSECUTION OF CHINESE. Five Chinese gardeners pleaded guilty at the Onehunga Magistrate's Court this morning to charges of working at their trade on Sunday, May 10. Mr. F. C. Webb said the men were employed by Wong Clio/; to gather vegetables on Sunday, r* a work of necessity, so that he might supply them fresh at 8 a.m. on Monday to two steamers in Auckland. After hearing evidence, ~Mr. Lcvicn. S.M., said it wae difficult to differentiate between the moral aspects of the question pleaded by Mr. Webb and the economic aspect. Judgment was reserved. Wah Kuni was fined 10/ and 11/ costs for spraying celery on a Sunday.
