— » OLD BOYS' REUNION. SUCCESSFUL FUNCTIONS HELD ELECTION OF EXECUTIVE.

The annual reunion of the Saerej Heart College Old Boys' Association opened with a smoke concert in the college hall on Saturday evening. Mr. M. M. Flynn, president of the association presided over an attendance of about 120 members and guests. Representatives of kindred associations from the Auckland Grammar School, King's College, Prince Albert College and St. Patrick's College, Wellington, were present. Proposing the toast of ''Alma Mater," Mr. Flynn congratulated the Marist Brothers on the school's record success last year, when four University Entrance Scholarships were gained. He stressed the chief function of the college as an outpost in a world-wide system of Catholic education, and pointed out that the laity had :;n important social duty. Every member was expected to support the" Church's social programme, which laid down a middle path between Communism and unlimited capitalism.

The Rev. Brother Benignus in reply, thanked the old boys for their active interest in the college. The present school roll number of 300 had exceeded all expectations. The Rev. Dr. L. Buxton, in proposing the toast of kindred associations, said that the college was proud of its sister schools, which were making such an important contribution to the progress of the city and of the Dominion. Replies were made by Messrs. J. Stanton (Grammar Old Boys' Association). J. C. Whitney (King's). J. H. Revburn (Prince Albert) and J. Poff (St. Patrick's). A strong union of past pupils was as great an indication of a school's vitality as any other factor, said the Rev. Brother Stephen, who proposed the toast to the old boys. He mentioned that during the past year several old boys had entered various orders of the clergy. Mr. K. A. Snedden replied on behalf of the association. New Officers Elected. A very successful year was reported by Mr. T. Lanigan. secretary of the association, and Mr. X. C. Snedden. treasurer, at the annual general meeting held at the college yesterday morning. Mr. M. M. Flynu presided, and Bishop Liston was among the guests. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Bishop Liston; vice-patron, Rev. Brother Benignus; president, Mr. Cyril Snedden; joint secretaries. Rev. Brother Stephen and Mr. D. Rennie: treasurer, Mr. X. C. Snedden: committee, Messrs. M. M. Flynn, G. Rickets, T. Lanigan, G. Foy, M. Fraser-Smith, K. A. Snedden, C. Kelly, G. Sinclair. L. Moore, F. Sweeney; Auditor, Mr. J. Colman. A football match between past and present students was played at the college this afternoon, and the reunion will conclude with a dance at Dixieland to-morrow evening.
