PERSONAL.
Sir James Gunson left for Wellington last evening. Mr. J. Parrington, of Colombo, is at the Grand Hotel. The Hon. J. B. Gow, M.L.C., returned to the south last evening. Mr. F. 0. V. Aclieson, judge of the Native Land Court, left last evening for Dunedin. Dr. E. Kideon and Dr. D. Miller, of Wellington, were yesterday elected Fellows of the New Zealand Institute. Mr. E. C. Banks, member of the Auckland Education Board, left for Rotorua by train this morning. Messrs. J". Primrose, S. B. Sims and F. A. Snell have been reappointed representatives of the Auckland Education Board on the Hamilton High School Board of Governors. Major-General Sinclair Burgess, who was recently appointed officer commanding the New Zealand Forces, arrived at Frankton from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Colonel J. E. Duigan left Auckland last evening to meet him. Dr. W. P. Evans was nominated as the recipient of the Hector Award at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute in Wellington yesterday. The award was made for his researches in the chemistry of coal. Mr. A. D. C. Gosman, of the chief accountant's office in the Wellington Railway Department, has retired on superannuation. He joined the service in 1900. and was attached to the chief accountant's staff for the full period of his service.
