SONG COPYRIGHTS.
AUTHOR'S SUCCESSFUL SUIT. (Received 1 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 19. In urging the Canadian House of Commons to adopt more stringent copyrights, Mr. Gitz Rice, an author, declared he had never received a cent for his famous war song, "Mademoiselle from Armentieres." He was awarded £2000 in a suit against certain gramophone companies, but lawyers' expenses absorbed it all.
