SHOULD A" JOURNALIST TELL ? LONDON, May 1. The executive committee of the Council of the Institute of Journalists passed a resolution strongly supporting Mr. J. A. Alexander, "The Melbourne Herald's" special representative at Canberra, in his refusal to- disclose the source of his information concerning the "secret" cables that passed between the Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, and the former Treasurer, Mr. J. A. Lyons, while the former was in England last year. Mr. Alexander was excluded from the Press Gallery at Canberra by order of the Speaker. It expressed the belief that such a disclosure would have been a grave violation of the recognised ethics of the journalistic profession.
