RAILWAY APPOINTMENT.

FOR WET WEATHER GOLF.

MR. E. CASEY PROMOTED. ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER. MR. W. R. DAVIDSON TO RETIRE. Mr. E. Casey, who has been divisional superintendent for North Island railways, and stationed in Auckland for the last live years, has been appointed assistant chief engineer of railways, with headquarters in Wellington, vice Mr. W. R. Davidson, who will retire from the position at the end of this month. Mr. Casey will take up his new duties next Wednesday. Mr. Davidson has had 33 years' service with the railways, and for a time has been :r indifferent health. He

joined the railway service as an engineering cadet and has had a wide experience in railway engineering in all parts of New Zealand. Mr. Davidson made an extensive tour of the railway systems abroad in 1925, and was acting-chief engineer in 1926. For several years he has been stationed at head office, Wellington. He was intimately connected with the planning and construction of Auckland's new railway station, in collaboration with the architects.
