SOFTWOOD GROWING CENTRE FOR PACIFIC. NEW ZEALAND'S IMPORTANCE. It is not generally realised that the countries in the Southern Hemisphere import softwood timber, pulp and paper from Canada, Sweden, and countries in the Northern Hemisphere to the value of over £30,000,000 per annum. These supplies, however, are rapidly dwindling, and with a consequently increasing demand the plantations owned by the bond holders of New Zealand Perpetual Forests, Ltd., will naturally increase in value, and should prove a considerable source of revenue both to bond holders and to the Dominion in the very near future. — (Ad.)
