BLENHEIM BORE
NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. Stated to be the best since oil commenced to show on April. 20 a strong blowout occurred a;■ Blenheim No 2 well to-dav during swabbing operations. WesSre rose to 3701b. At that stage oil shot Z over the top of ,the derrick several times before the valves were closed and the flow directed into storage tanks. There was Steady flow for an hour -or more. Mr R. H. launder, superintendent, said the No. 2 well was probably the first u New Plymouth to have been brought in Sr control instead of being allowed to blow wild. This had the effect of curtailing initial production but had proved the correct course. For a week, at was necessary to swab the well to induce the flow but latterly there had been an increase dtendency to self flow. The policy of the directors had been to swab about 10 barrels a day. The flow had been at a daily pressure of 32 barrels of 35 gallons each. The amount in storage since the well commenced to flow on April 20 was 18,000 gallons. TARAMAKI OILFIELDS, LTD.
The erection of the plant for the new well at Gisborne is well forward. It is hoped to be in a position to start drilling within the next few days.
