REPRESENTATIVE SELECTORS

TWO TO BE CHOSEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Two selectors will be appointed to choose the New Zealand Rugby representative teams this year, according to a decision by the management committee of the New Zealand Union this evening. Affiliated unions will be circularised for nominations. One selector will be chosen from the South Island and one from the North, and, in the event of any dispute arising, a member of the New Zealand Union will be called in to decide. These selectors will also choose the North Island and South Island teams. The meeting also decided to send letters to the English Rugby Football Union and all other unions concerned dealing with the proposal to call a conference for the establishment of an Imperial Rugby Board, as suggested at the annual meeting of delegates last week.

TAIHAPE UNION. CLASSIFICATION' OF PLAYERS.. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Wednesday. r> A l th r- weeklv meeting of the Taihane "iigby Union the secretary, Mr. P. 51 Marlow, requested that a treasurer be appointed ,to assist him. A member of the- management committee, Mr. R. Schoheld, was elected to the .position. The union is taking a firm stand this season on matters connected with the classification of players. It has been the custom in the past in many cases to have a senior player, who has "slipped" through advancing age or some other reason, reclassified as junior. Similarly, many players already in the junior ranks are considered too heavy for the class of player participating in the junior grades. The union hopes that by treating each case on its merits these tendencies will be eradicated.
