PLAZA THEATRE. "East Lyime," the modernised film version of Mrs. Henry Wood's famous novel, ia attracting lafge audiencee to the Plaza Theatre. Neil Hamilton appears ae the young English aristocrat, Carlyle Stuart, while Marion Nixon plays the part of his girl wife, Catherine. The husband transfers hie affection to another woman, and the disillusioned wife seeks to forget amid the mad whirl of society. She eventually leaves the home, taking her little son with her, but the child is returned to the father soon afterwards. The distre66ed mother's subsequent misfortunes, and her dramatic return to the ancestral home to reclaim her eon, provide one of the most engrossing themes ret presented on the screen. Scenes of fashionable Mayfair and beautiful homes on the upper reaches of the river Thames are features of the picture. Norman Kerry and Judith Barrie head the supporting cast. The programme includes a comedv and newereel, together with two reviewe, one of different types of national beauty and another of bridges the world over. ORGAN RECITAL. A varied programme was played by the city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The selections included a transcription of Mendelssohn's "Cornelius "March, , Bach's Chorale Preludes and a Chopin Nocturne. MUNICIPAL BAND. Owing to the Town Hall being otherwise engaged, a programme played by the Municipal Band, led by the bandmaster, Mr. G. Buckley, was broadcast from IYA etudio on Saturday evening. A second programme was given in the Zoological Park yesterday afternoon. The series of concerts will be resumed on Sunday, May 10.
