In view" of the disturbing accounts which have been cabled concerning Saturday's run on the Commonwealth Bank, the following abstract of the average liabilities and assets of the bank in its Australian business and its business in the States of Australia for the quarter ended March 31, will be of special interest. That accounts for "short term loans in Australia" in the New South Wales business being so large in comparison with "short term loans in Australia in the whole of the Australian business. T'.io amount of the set off last quarter was y> 008,849. The previous quarter it was £6. 110,087. The figures of the business in Australia have allowance made for this set off.
