PERSONAL.
The Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C., loft last evening for Hastings. Dr. H. G. Ward, of Southampton, is at Hotel Cargen. Mr. M. H. Henry (Belfast) and Mr. H. McLeric (Chicago) are at the Grand Hotel. Mr W. J. Grant (Rangoon) and Mr. H. J. Barncastle (Sydney) are at the Star Hotel. Mr. F. Pettig (Java) and Mr. A. Klippel (Sydney) are at Hotel Cargen. Mr R. J. Tozer, of Cairo, Egypt, representative of a British engineering firm, is visiting New Zealand. Dr. McKinnon, Mr. J. Noble, Mr. H. G. Davies and Mr. C. S. Davies, of London, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. W. Essex, passenger agent in New Zealand for the Canadian Pacific Railways Co., arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. P. Maddox, New Zealand representative for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films, arrived by the Limited this morning from Wellington. Mr. A. S. Williamson, of the Land and Income Tax Department, Wellington, has retired on superannuation after 31 years' service. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition, will arrive from Wellington by the Limited to-morrow morning. He will leave for the North on Wednesday. Armourer Staff-Sergeant R. R. Grieve, of Treiitham, who has been on loan to the New Zealand Defence Force, has completed his term and will leave Wellington by the Monowai to-morrow for England. Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, president of the Auckland A. and P. Association, and Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, secretary, have been appointed to represent the association at the conference of North Island associations to be held at Palnicrston North on June IS. Mr. C. W. Wilkinson, M.P. for Egmont, and Mrs. Wilkinson have been the guests of Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P., and Mrs. Fletcher during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson left this morning for the Bay of Islands and expect to return to Auckland towards the end of the week.
