A PAPER BASKET.
The paper basket is a very decorative and easily made paper decoration, which will be found extremely effective if suspended from paper chains. First fold a square piecc of coloured tissue paper in half diagonally, which will then appear similar to Fig. 1. Next fold A of Fig. 1 over to B by bending along the central dotted line, which will make Fig. 2. Similarly fold Aof Fig. 2 down to B, by bending along the dotted line, when the paper will appear like Fig. :i. Then make a series of cuts, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 3.
Cut right through the folds of the paper, and terminate each cut about one inch from the edge of the fold. Care must be taken here to commence the cut* at the folded-over edges of the paper only. If the side of the paper with tlie plain edges is cut, failure will result. After the cuts have been made, open out the paper, and it will be found to appear similar to Fig. 4. Finally, bring the four points A, 13, C, and D. of Fig. 4, together, and fix them with a pin or paste, which will complete the paper basket, as shown in Fig 5. This ligure illustrates how the basket may be. hung at the junction of two lengths of plain paper chain.
