ON 'CHANGE.

FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES.

BUSINESS MODERATE,

Business on the local Exchange has 'been rather quiet during the past 24 hours. Reports from Australia have resulted in s weakening in Common-wealth securities, which usuaiiy occupy an important position in the daily quotations. The onlyAustralian scrip to change hands has been Commercial Banss, and for these lower prices have been accepted. At this morning's call bidding was dull <n most sections, but some of the holders -jf Australian bank shares who had lowered their reserves yesterday restored ihem approximately to the levels formerly ruling. The announcement or a lower interim dividend rate for Dalgety's brought a weakness in the scrip, which was ottered at £7 10/, with no buyers responding. Gear Meat shares were asked, forat £1 30/, and there was the usual inquiry for Government Bonds, but none were on offer. The Noon Call. Australian banks staged something of a recovery at the noon call. Buyers came back again, although in some instances at ;educed limits. Nationals of Australasia were asked for. with buyers at £10 17/b. which is 7/6 higher than the rate offered a week ago. , ~ . c , South British Insurances had their nrst =ale *inee the dividend was paid, the figure being £2 13/3, at which more could have been sold. , A parcel of Pukemiros was offered at £1 16/9, and one of tax-free Government Bonds, inscribed, at £9S 15/.
