RUGBY IN OTAGO.
CHANGES IN SENIOR TEAMS. SOME AUCKLANDERS PLAYING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. There are several changes In the personnels of the various Otago senior Rugby tifteens this season, and one of the most notable transfers has been that of A. T. Francis, who has gone over from University to Kaikorai. Francis lias the makings of a great half-back, and his game for Otago against the British team last season greatly impressed the critics, who reckoned he made one of the best showings of any scrum half that played against the tourists. The ex-Aucklander, R. G. Bush, was granted liis transfer to University, and if is stated that he will almost, certainly be found in the centre three-quarter position, as D. P. Lindsay, the ex-Ali Black, who will probably captain 'Varsity, will almost surely fill the full-back position. Another ex-Aucklander who may be in the running for a place in the 'Varsity team is W. .1 Hodge, formerly of Auckland Training College, who is reputed to be a solid frontranker. He represented the northern 'Varsity in the heavy-weight boxing division at the recent inter-'Varsity boxing tournament. H. Campbell, formerly of Ponsonbv (Auckland), has transferred to Alhambra which has acquired several new players. J. A. Malcolm who formerly hooked for lechnieal Old Boys' in Auckland, and before that played for Alhambra here, is playing for the Invercargill Club in Invercargill this season. It has been stated that there is some doubt as to whether A. Holden, the ex-New Zealand and Otago half-back, who has represented Southland for two or three seasons past, will be playing this year. A new club has been admitted to senior status in Southland, the High School Old Hoys Club having been promoted to senior k . s - o£ , the coaches of this club is Alt Mitchell, who played for Alhambra some twenty 3 ears ago and was one of Otago's best forwards, being selected for a Now Zealand team though he did not make th»> trip.
