STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

BROTHER TO OMEO. lloerangi, who finished second to Copey at Stratford yesterday, is a full-brother to Omeo. and only commenced racing last season, when he ran unplaced in his only start. This season he won the Lepperton Hurdles at the Taranaki Hunt meeting and the Rahotu Hack Hurdles at the Taranaki summer meeting, but was beaten into third plaee in the Tarata Hack Hurdles on the following; day by Royal Damon and Goblin Market, who had filled the minor places on the first dav.

SEATOWN'S SUCCESS. Seatown, who won the St. George's Handicap at Stratford yesterday, had not raced since he contested the Stratford Cup on the same course on Xew Year's Day. He is very partial to soft going and usually runs well in the winter. Two seasons ago he was sent to Auckland and won the Cornwall Handicap and the York Handicap, while last June he finished third in the Cornwall Handicap and second in the York Handicap. In view of his performance yesterday Seatown will be well in favour for his winter engagements. A PROMISING THREE-YEAR-OLD. Illuminate, who scored at Stratford yesterday, is a three-year-old gelding by Illumination from Hinepoto. and is one of J. Fryer's team. He had raced on three occasions previously this season, his best effort up till yesterday being third in the Juvenile Handicap at Stratford on Xew Year's Day to Eastertime and Tradesman. He was not far away on that occasion. Illuminate is evidently a very promising sort. BROTHER TO PRIDE. Ilkley, who won the Electric Stakes and finished second in the Smithfield Handicap at the South Canterbury meeting yesterday, was bred and raced as a two-vear-old last season by Mr. G. D. Greenwood, and in his only start ran second to his stable companion rn the Autumn Nursery at Riccarton. He was unsuccessful in his first few starts this season and then struck form, winning four races on end for his new owner, Mr. R. R. McDonald, of Mosgiel —three at Cromwell and one at South Canterbury yesterday. Ilkley is by Sutala from Egotism, and therefore a full brother to Pride and Jaloux. RETURN OF PERLE DE LEON. Perle de Leon, who finished second at South Canterbury yesterday, was a pood hurdler a season or two ago, and if he regains his true form he should be hard to beat in big hurdle events. Unfortunately he is troubled with unsoundness, and it was difficult to get him thoroughlv wound up. Last season he was second in the Century Hurdle Race to Aurora Borealis, and occupied a similar position to Prince Lu in the' May Hurdle Race the next day. He did not race again till yesterday. SAME FAMILY AS MARTIAN. One of the highest price yearlings sold at the Sydney Easter sales was a bav colt by Silvius from Leading Lad v. and its breeding is particularly interesting to Xew Zealanders, inasmuch as he is descended from Otterden, the dam 0 f Martian, Boniform, Sungod and Otterform (the grandam of Manfred). Leading Lady is by Shepherd King from Foremost, by Multiform from Otterden, and the youngster mentioned was secured by Mr. E. F. 'Walker, of Randwick, for ooOgs. Silvius was a high-class performer on the turf and defeated such horses as Amounis and Gothic and ran second in the Melbourne Cup to Trivalve. RACING CONSISTENTLY. Orbys Choice has been racing consistently recently, only being twice cut of a place in his last eight starts. He won the Maiden Stakes at Rangitikei, the Railway Handicap at Opunake, and the Electric Hack at Stratford »yesterday, while later in the dav* he was narrowly beaten by Corwen in the Railway Hack Handicap. Orby's Choice is a three-year-old" by Orby's Pride from Kenil worth Maid. The latter vas brought to Xew Zealand from Australia by the late Mr. C. F. Mark, and was then in foal to Orby's Pride, Orby's Choice being the result. He is now owned and trained by R. Brough at Hawera.
