WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

KEREPEEHI. Ar. enjoyable afternoon was held at the residence of Mrs. Boswell foi the fourth meeting of the Kercpooni Women'? Institute. The president, Mrs. Bcrtloson. presided. The roll call, 'Uses for Cold Meat," was much appreciated. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Burlev and Mrs. Parsons. WAITAKARURU. The April meeting of the Waitakaruru (Hauraki Plains) Women's Institute was held recently 5 n the local hall, Mrs. C. A. Hayward presiding. A demonstration on the making of paper niache was given by Mrs. Laing, the members showing great interest. A number of articles made from sugar bags were displayed. The roll call of proverbs was the cause of much merriment. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Parfitt, Peters and Strctton. RANGIRIRI AND TE KAUWHATA. The April meeting of the Ransririri and Te Kauwhata Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Metcalfe, at Rangiriri, recently. Mrs. Helen 1? ry presided. A useful demonstration of curing apples by the sulphur method was given by Mrs. T. E. Rodda. Mrs. Fry read an original poem, pointing out the pleasant side of death. The social hour closed a pleasant afternoon. The j hostesses were Mrs. Waterhouse, Mrs.! Sale, Miss Waterhouse. HAPPY VALLEY. The monthly meeting of the Happy Valley Women's Institute was held recently _at the residence of Mrs. Wooster, sen. * The roll call for the day was a recipe for cooking rice. A lecture on education was read by the president. The programme included a song by Misses E. and H. Donnelley, a recitation by .Mrs. Baker and a humorous reading by Mrs. B. Ogle. A competition arranged by Mrs. Baker was won by Mrs. E. J. Ogle. The hostesses for the day were Mrs. Brownlee and Miss Wooster., RAGLAN. The Raglan Women's Institute held its monthly meeting on April 17. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Carpenter, Cowley, Bertling, Bernard and Miss Donn. It was decided to run at least two social evenings to raise funds to help the Town Board in finding work for the local unemployed., A stall of goods from the Institute for the Blind disposed of a large number of articles. Two competitions added to the enjoyment of the afternoon, and a song by Mrs. G. Thomson was much appreciated.
