z'■ -y - v '' — * ■'; ~j< <£ \ * CULVERT CONSTRUCTION — NEW METHODS EMPLOYED. A new method of Culvert Con-truction that is likely to prove of great imcre-t to Local Bodies, and to effect substantial savings, has been recently successfully demonstrated by the NAPIER CONCRETE CO., LTD*, AU C K LAND. who hold Patent Rights over the new method of construction. Under this system an internal core of rubber is ; nflatel to about 41b per Square inch, and concreting then proceeds, thus-eliminating the usual form work. The process is used for comparatively large culverts or pipe lines, 4 feet diameter being the smallest size, but by -a combination of two cr more cores, culverts of almost any size and small bridges can be constructed. The above illustration shows the first srork carried out in New Zealand usiug this method, a five feet diameter culvert constructed on a Main Highway in Mr. D. Johnson's Riding, Piako County. The thickness of walls is 7 inches, and the savin? on the usual system of construction with beard forms is stated by Mr. B. Homer, the County Engineer, to be about 25 per cent'. THE NAPIER CONCRETE CO.. LTD.. AUCKLAND, will be pleased to supply further particulars about this system to those interested. —(Ad.)
