DISPUTE AT ARAPUNI.

TUNNELLERS CEASE WORK. "NO EFFECT ON PROGRESS/' STATEMENT BY MINISTER. The tunnellers employed at the Arapuni hydro-electric works ceased work at 4 p.m. yesterday, and all underground work has been declared '"black." They did not resume work to-day. The stoppage is a consequence of the reduced scale of wages. The Arapuui branch of the union met on Tuesday, and decided that the tunnellers should cease work. The "Star's" Parliamentary reporter telegraphs that the Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Public Works, states that the action of the tunnellers at Arapuui will have no effect on the progress of the remedial measures, as the men there were engaged in shaft-driving work of no particular urgency.
