FURTHER NOMINATIONS.
NEWMARKET MAYORALTY.
MR. S. DONALDSON NOT OPPOSED.
Nominations of candidates for the majority of local bodies in the Auckland suburban districts closed at noon to-day, and in most cases the number of aspirants is considerably in excess of the seats vacant. The Birkenhead and Otahuhu lists will be closed tomorrow.
As_ the result of yesterday's completed nominations, the retiring chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. M. H. Wynyard, was returned unopposed to the board as the representative of Onehunga, One Tree Hill, Newmarket and districts as far south as Panmure, and Mr. W. K. Howitt as the North Shore borough's representative on the Auckland Hospital Board In two wards of the Mount Albert borough there will be no election, while at Newmarket the Mayoralty will not be contested, Mr. S. Donaldson being returned unopposed for a further term.
