SCARED OFF BY LANG
BRITISH INDUSTRIES
LONDON, April IS
Owing to the lack of confidence created by the Lang Government. Australia has lost a number of industries capable of absorbing thousands of unemployed, says the trade supplement of "The Times."
British and Continental firms which had been considering the starting of branch factories inside the tariff wall have either cancelled or postponed their plans, while a number of firms which sent out directors and managers to explore the possibilities are hesitating, owing to the depression, whether to start establishments.
Mr. Lang's repudiation and the Federal Government's inflation proposals have shaken confidence in Australia and caused them to deier a decision indefinitely.
It is understood that the manufacturers included electric lamps, accumulators, motor accessories, paints, varnishes, writing inks, sporting requisites, jams, condiments, pickles and vinegar.
