OTAHUHU COMMITTEE.
MR, McBRINE AS MEDIATOR. REQUEST FROM MINISTER. (By Telegraph.— Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Hopes are entertained by the Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Labour, that the Otahuhu Unemployment Committee will be induced to reconsider its decision to disband. Immediately news of the committee's resolution reached him, the Minister telegraphed Mr. O. Mcßrine, one of tho Auckland members of the Unemployment Board, asking him to go to Otahuhu and discuss the position with the members of the committee. Mr. Smith expressed the belief that Mr. Mcßrine, with his knowledge of the aims and objects of the board, would be able to arrange for the committee to continue its actvities, in view of the splendid work it had already performed.
