CHURCH OF ENGLAND.
NEW VICAR AT ELLERSLIE. The Her. W. A. Butler was last evening instituted as vicar of Ellerslis Parish by Archbishop Averill, who had as chaplains Archdeacon MacMurrsy and Archdeacon Simkin. Canon Fancourt and the Rev. TT. 15. Wingfield read the lessons. The llev. G. C. Cruiekshank, of St. Mark's, Remuera, and the Rev. J. Draper were present at the service. The Primate, in an address, urged the parishioners to give every assistance to the new vicar in the administration of such a large parish as Greater Ellerslie. Later a social gathering was held in the Parish Hall, at which brief speeches were delivered by the Archbishop, Archdeacon Mac Murray, Mr. Cruickshank and Mr. E. C. Brown, people's warden. The Rev. W. A. Scott, a recent arrival from Ireland, takes up the position of assistant priest at Ellerslie this week, the former curate having gone with the former vicar to the Otabuhu parish.
