LEAGUE FOOTBALL

PONSONBY CLUB'S MEETING

Over 80 members attended the 21st annual meeting of the Ponsonby Rugby League Football Club last night. Mr. Nelson Culpan presided. The report referred, to success in all grades, the seniors having annexed the championship, Monteith Shield, Roope Rooster and the Thistle Cup. The third open team was particularly brilliant. The club primary school team consisted of members from the Ponsonby, Curran Street and Bayfield Schools. The organising work done by Mr. A. H. McKeown in this connection was appreciated. The club's, heavier expenditure last year was due to the nost of the 21st anniversary celebration and the outfitting of the schoolboy team, but otherwise the club was financially strong. Officers were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. Alfred Adams; president, Mr. N. D. Culpan; secretary, Mr. C. J. W. Taylor; treasurer, Mr. E. C. McEwan ;• senior selector, Mr. A. Black; reserve grade, Mr. F. White; junior delegate, Mr. A. Black; committee, Messrs. C. Stanley, C. Turner, R. Short, F. White, A. Black, Nicol and Rowland.

REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.

There was 'a record attendance at the annual meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Referees' Association last night, Mr. A. Ball presiding.

The annual'report stated that membership had greatly increased and the standard of refereeing last year was maintained at a high level. The association was in a sound financial position and would continue to co-operate with other officials for the good of the game

Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. A. Ball; deputy chairman, Mr. L. Bull; secretary, Mr. V. Simpson; delegate to A.R.L., Mr. W. Mincham; delegate J.M.C., Mr. A. Smith; delegate to New Zealand Referees' Association, Mr. L. Bull; social committee, Messrs. B. Emirali, A. Sanders and jW. Mincham; executive,, Messrs. A. McCowatt, T. Hill, J. Stormont and the chairman, secretary and treasurer ex officio; treasurer, Mr. A. Sanders.
