ASSESSMENT COURT.

HALF OF OBJECTIONS DEALT WITH.

When the Auckland City Assessment Court rose yesterday afternoon.about half the list of 989 objections relating to 3012 properties, had bean disposed ot, and reductions amounting to only £984 a year had been granted. Late m the session some Queen .Street properties were considered, and mere will be clisnissed when the Court resumes its sitting to-morrow. Mr. W. R: McKean, S.M., presided. • r . The largest reduction of the day was made in the case of the Market Petrol Station property, near the city markets. It was submitted that the property Mel been acquired four or five years ago, but the venture had proved so unsuccessful that the owners, a syndicate of produce auctioneers, had shared the property among themselves. Only two divisions had been let at smell rentals, and- the remainder were being used for storage purposes. It appeared that artificial values had been given to properties around the city markets, and that present assessments could not ,be maintained.
